Oktoberfest in Pretoria takes place over three days:
Thursday – VIP Opening Night: 10 Sep 2026
Friday – Schunkel Night: 11 Sep 2026
Saturday – Family Day: 12 Sep 2026
Each day offers a slightly different experience, from corporate hosting to full-on Bavarian vibes and family-friendly activities.
Oktoberfest Pretoria takes place at the Deutsche Internationale Schule Pretoria, cnr N4 and Simon Vermooten Road, The Willows, Pretoria.
Opening times are:
Thursday: VIP evening event
Friday: Gates open around 17:00
Saturday (Family Day): Gates open from 10:00
Entertainment runs throughout the day and evening.
Yes! Saturday is Family Day with activities for all ages including:
games and rides
the Spielstraße (kids activity area)
live music
food stalls
fun fair attractions
Children under 12 usually enter free.
Expect a mix of traditional German favourites and festival food, including:
Eisbein
Kassler
Bockwurst
Schnitzel (vegan option available)
Brezeln and other treats
food and beer vendors
There are also beer garden, bars, wine, schnapps and non-alcoholic drinks available.
The festival features:

sing-along sessions and traditional schunkeln
DJs and live music on the outdoor stage
carnival rides and games

Yes. Oktoberfest Pretoria is a cashless event, but card payments are accepted.

Due to high demand, only applications submitted through this process are considered.
The original Oktoberfest in Munich began in October in 1810, but the festival was later moved to September to enjoy better weather. Pretoria follows the same tradition — warmer weather, better beer garden vibes!
Oktoberfest Pretoria is South Africa’s original Oktoberfest and an annual fundraiser for the Deutsche Internationale Schule Pretoria, bringing together thousands of visitors for German culture, food, music and community.
Not at all — but we highly encourage it!
Many guests come dressed in Dirndls, Lederhosen or other Bavarian-inspired outfits, which adds to the festive atmosphere. If you don’t have traditional attire, feel free to come in anything comfortable and ready to celebrate.

Yes! Oktoberfest Pretoria is family-friendly, especially during Saturday Family Day.
Children are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian. Saturday offers activities, rides, games and entertainment for younger visitors.
